Recharge Rotterdam

How can we help you?

Rotterdam is the beating heart of European industry and innovation. With the largest port in Europe, world-class transport networks, a strong greening agenda and a well-educated workforce, Rotterdam enables the Netherlands and North-West Europe to generate revenues.

The strong starting position of the industrial cluster in Rotterdam is now under pressure due to higher energy costs compared to neighboring countries, congestion and an unresolved nitrogen problem, leading to a deteriorating investment climate. This is despite the fact that industry in Rotterdam is of great strategic importance for our energy and raw materials. Moreover, major investments in new, sustainable technologies are needed now more than ever.

That is why the Dutch government, the Port of Rotterdam Authority and Deltalinqs are working together on the Recharge Rotterdam programme to strengthen the Rotterdam cluster in the short term and make our industry more competitive, sustainable and resilient. This represents the implementation of the proposal in the current government’s programme for a regional cluster approach to tackle the growing challenges facing the Dutch economy and sustainability.

Recharge Rotterdam therefore focuses on measures that are necessary for the realisation of projects that are of strategic importance to the Netherlands.

Measures that contribute to the security of supply for essential industries and the creation of new sustainable chains that form the basis of a sustainable and healthy industrial cluster.

This is how we are ensuring that Rotterdam remains a player of global importance.
