- 12,500 ha of port area (land and water, of which over 6,000 ha is industrial sites).

- Cargo throughput: approximately 436 million tonnes of freight a year.
- Shipping: approximately 28,000 seagoing vessels and 91,000 inland vessels annually.
- Employment: approximately 192,000 jobs (directly and indirectly in Rotterdam-Rijnmond).
- Added value: €29.6 billion, 3.2% of the Dutch GDP.
THIRD QUARTER 2025
Total throughput in the port of Rotterdam fell slightly by 2.6% in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year. In the first nine months of this year, throughput was 320.2 million tonnes, compared to 328.9 million tonnes in the first nine months of 2024. The decline is mainly due to lower throughput of iron ore and mineral oil products.
