What is the address of Portlantis?

You’ll find Portlantis at Prinses Máximaweg 301, 3199 KG Maasvlakte Rotterdam, Port number 8804. Navigate directly to ‘Portlantis’ using Google Maps. Portlantis is located on the Maasvlakte, about 45 km from Rotterdam. Prior to your visit, check out the various ways you can get to Portlantis.

Can I park for free at Portlantis?

Yes, there is a spacious parking lot directly in front of the building. You may park for free here as a visitor to Portlantis. When leaving, just scan your entrance ticket or that of a bus tour or boat trip at the barrier. There are 5 parking spaces reserved for visitors with limited mobility. And to the side of the parking lot are four (uncovered) parking spaces for coaches.

Can I charge my car?

Can I charge my car?

You can use one of 14 charging points (11kW per charging station) in the parking lot. The charging points are activated using public charging passes. You’ll also find a charging point for two cars at Maasvlakte Beach, at P3 on Maasvlakte Boulevard.

May I bring my dog, too?

No, pets are not allowed in Portlantis. This restriction also applies aboard the bus tour and the boat trip. Assistance dogs are allowed, of course.

Is Portlantis accessible by wheelchair?

Portlantis is accessible to people with disabilities and has two disabled toilets and an elevator. The boat trip is also wheelchair accessible and equipped with a disabled toilet. The shuttle bus to the boarding location for the boat trip can accommodate two people using wheelchairs. If you use a wheelchair and would like to travel to the boarding location on your own, please contact us. Unfortunately, the coach used for the bus tours is not equipped for the use of a wheelchair.

Do I need to book tickets online in advance for tours, excursions or activities?

No, tickets are also available (depending on availability) through ticket kiosks in the entrance area of Portlantis. You can only pay by pin here. However, to avoid disappointment, we recommend booking tickets online in advance. This ensures your participation in the activity of your choice. It also allows us to inform you in case of unexpected changes, such as in the event of bad weather.

How long does a visit to Portlantis take?

Depending on your interests, you can make your visit to Portlantis as long as you like. We recommend at least half a day for a visit. But you can also spend the entire day!

There are three floors of exhibits. We expect you will need at least half an hour per floor (1.5 hours). The Helios Experience on the 2nd floor takes 15 minutes. Do you also want to climb the red stairs, see the mini-exhibits, enjoy the view from the roof and visit the outdoor area? Allow for half an hour for this. Finally, would you like to book a canal cruise or ride? These take around 1.5 hours each. A cup of coffee or lunch in the restaurant? Count on half an hour. Total visiting time; 4.15 h

May I consume my own food or drink?

You are not permitted to consume your own refreshments in Portlantis or aboard the boat trip, bus tour or shuttle bus. The outdoor grandstand right next to Portlantis may be used for this purpose.

Can I book a boat trip all year round?

Yes, boat trips run on all days that Portlantis is open. You’ll have a great view of port activities both outside on the upper deck and inside from the lower deck. In bad weather conditions, there is a possibility that a cruise may be cancelled for safety reasons. In such exceptional cases, you will be informed as soon as possible, after which a refund will be made.

Is Portlantis accessible by public transportation?

Portlantis is best reached by car. But there are also several options via public transportation.

From Hoek van Holland, you can use the Hoeksveer ferry on foot and by bicycle. There is a direct connection between Berghaven in Hoek van Holland and Prinses Margriethaven on Maasvlakte 2. From there, a shuttle runs to Portlantis. Both ferry and shuttle tickets are available through Hoeksveer. The ferry service operates from 1 May to 1 October. Hoek van Holland is accessible by metro from Rotterdam, Schiedam, Vlaardingen and Maassluis.

Spido also runs to Portlantis with some frequency, by coach from downtown Rotterdam. Check out availability on the Spido website.

How can I reserve tickets online?

The Tickets button will take you directly to the webshop for tickets. Here you can search by date or activity. Check out the Calendar first to orient yourself. If you select a date or activity there, that information is transferred to the webshop. There you can enter your information, select the number of tickets and book any other activities for the day of your visit.

Is it possible to change my ticket to another day or to cancel it?

Are you unexpectedly unable to attend on the date for which you purchased a ticket? Then you can transfer your ticket to another available date. Did you create an account when you made your booking? This is easy to do yourself using the link at the bottom of your ticket confirmation email.

Don’t have an account or want to cancel your ticket? Then send an email to [email protected]. Please include the name under which the booking was made, the original date, and time. When rescheduling, please also indicate your preferred new date and time.

When will new tickets become available for future dates?

Would you like to purchase tickets for a later date, but can't find them on the website yet? Don't worry: tickets become available online approximately eight weeks in advance. Keep an eye on the website.

Is free Wi-Fi available in Portlantis and during the couch tour or boat trip?

Yes, in Portlantis and on board both the coach tour and the boat trip, a fast and secure internet connection is available free of charge, provided by Publicroam. Download the Publicroam app for the best experience.

Is there an audio tour? And what languages are available?

Yes, for non-native speakers, the hearing impaired, or those who prefer to read, the highlights of the tours and the Portlantis exhibition can be listened to and read in German, English, French, Spanish, and Dutch. Just download the Portlantis app from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Frequently asked questions online tickets & Charity Lottery

I won a prize, how do I redeem it?

You won a prize in the Charity Lottery and received a code for it. Select ‘Portlantis’ as the activity at www.uitstapjenaarkeuze.nl when redeeming your code. After this, you will receive a voucher from the Charity Lottery that you can redeem on Portlantis.nl when booking your entrance tickets online. The voucher is redeemable only for a visit to Portlantis.

How and where can I book a bus tour or boat trip?

You cannot book a bus tour or boat trip with the Charity Lottery voucher. You must book these separately at Portlantis.nl.

I already have a receipt from the lottery. Why do I have to book with you as well?

You can convert the voucher from the Charity Lottery into tickets in the Portlantis webshop. That way you will be aware of ticket availability, and we will be aware of your arrival. The ticket gives you access to Portlantis.

Where can I book?

Redeem your code at www.uitspajenaarkeuze.nl to receive a voucher for Portlantis. Then convert the voucher into a Portlantis entrance ticket at portlantis.nl.

What if I can’t find my preferred date?

I won tickets, but want to come with more people. How can I organize this?

Redeem the voucher for Portlantis through the webshop at portlantis.nl. Additional tickets for your party can then be ordered directly there. The discount is then deducted from the tickets to which the voucher applies. You can then checkout the remaining amount for the additional tickets.

Should I also bring the lottery tickets?

No, you do not need to bring the lottery tickets with you during your visit to Portlantis. Only the entrance tickets to Portlantis are required.

There are different types of tours, which one can I choose?

You can only redeem your prize for an entrance ticket. Additional tours can be booked if desired.

I made my reservation with the Charity Lottery, but I can’t come to Portlantis within the validity term on my receipt. Can I still convert it?

While redeeming, you can select a date up to four months ahead for the trip of your choice. Your entrance ticket is only valid on the chosen date.

I have another discount code, how do I use it?

Discount codes can be redeemed in our webshop when booking. Select your visit date to Portlantis and/or the (additional) activity of your choice.
